Come settle into fall with us. This season, fragrance is warmer, nostalgic, and a little moodier. We’re sharing our new favorite scents for Fall 2026 and the current trends that inspired them.

I swear we JUST did this.

Every year I fight putting out fall candles while it’s still 80 degrees outside. And every year, September rolls around and suddenly I’m ready. Give me the sweaters. Give me the apple cider. I might even be ready for a pumpkin spice latte...maybe! (*actually nope*) LOL

But fall feels a little different this year. The world is LOUD and the news is nonstop. Everything feels expensive and everyone is so busy. And somehow we’re supposed to keep up with all of it while answering emails, drinking enough water, and remembering whatever password we created six months ago!

So when I started thinking about our Fall 2026 candle collection, I kept coming back to one thing: peace.

Not pretending everything is perfect. Just creating small pockets of calm where we can. This year's fragrance trends feel warmer, deeper, and more nostalgic. Familiar scents are getting moodier. Here are the five scents defining fall at The Sweetest Thing Shop this year!

THE TREND: DARK WOODS + QUIET LUXURY

Palm + Aloe | Oak + Leather | Whiskey + Vanilla

Whiskey Woods is for closing the door and being DONE for the day.

It opens surprisingly fresh with palm and aloe before settling into oak, worn leather, smooth whiskey, and vanilla. It’s warm, earthy, a little masculine, and definitely giving moody.

There is something grounding about wood-forward fragrances. They make a room feel settled. Like dimming the lights, putting your phone somewhere you can’t see it, and deciding that whatever needs your attention can wait until tomorrow.

The peace we’re claiming: Permission to disconnect.

THE TREND: SPICED GOURMANDS GROW UP

Ginger + Peppercorn | Sandalwood + Cedar | Clove + Amber

Gourmand scents are still going strong, but this fall they have a little more personality.

Ginger Snap has the sweetness you want from a fall candle, but ginger, peppercorn, patchouli, and woods keep it from smelling like straight-up dessert. Pumpkin and praline bring the cozy. Sandalwood and cedar give it some depth.

It reminds me of those slow fall afternoons when there is absolutely nowhere you need to be. Something is baking. Your favorite blanket is out and Practical Magic is on Netflix!

Maybe the phone is on Do Not Disturb....Maybe.

THE TREND: MOODY ORCHARD SCENTS

Apple + Strawberry | Peach + Raspberry | Amber + Patchouli

Apple is having her moment again this fall, but she got a makeover.

Scarlet Apple moves away from the super sweet apple fragrances we all know. Juicy apple, plum and berries give it a rich fruitiness, while cinnamon, amber, cedar, and patchouli pull everything somewhere deeper.

It still feels nostalgic, just a little more grown. And maybe that’s the comfort here. Returning to something familiar without needing it to feel exactly like it did before. Sometimes peace comes from letting things change.

THE TREND: NOSTALGIA IS BACK

Pumpkin + Maple | Cinnamon + Clove | Buttercream + Embers + Nutmeg

Listen. We can experiment all we want, but pumpkin spice isn't going anywhere. And honestly? Maybe we need it.

Pumpkin Spice is a great example of this. Notes of roasted pumpkin, brown sugar, maple, cinnamon, clove and buttercream give us everything we expect from fall. But the ember note adds a warm, slightly smoky finish that keeps this one from feeling too sugary.

There is a reason certain smells immediately make us feel at home. Scent is tied so closely to memory, and sometimes familiar rituals are exactly what we need when everything else feels unpredictable. Light the pumpkin candle. Make the cider. Rewatch The Gilmore Girls episodes you've already seen twelve times.

We support it even if we don't always love it! (self-proclaimed pumpkin haters) LOL!

THE TREND: WARM AMBERS AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE

Clove + Cinnamon | Pine + Cedar | Banana Bread + Vanilla

Golden Hour is BACK from last year because some things don't need fixing. Warm, glowing fragrances continue to have a place in our homes because they create exactly the atmosphere many of us are craving right now. Soft light. Warmth. A space that feels good to come home to.

Golden Hour captures that tiny window before the sun disappears, when everything looks softer for a minute.

Maybe that's the reminder we need this season too. You don't have to wait for an entire free weekend, a vacation, or life to magically calm down before you let yourself enjoy something.

Candles obviously aren't going to solve the world's problems. I wish. I would be RICH. But I do believe our homes can give us somewhere to land.

Fall naturally asks us to come back inside. Maybe this year we take that a little more literally. Put the phone down sometimes. Cook something good. Invite somebody over. Sit in silence. Light the candle you've been “saving.”

The world can be chaotic and we can still make room for softness.

So that's the energy behind Fall 2026. Not escaping life. Just remembering to actually live some of it.
